Setting up your own counselling private practice can be exciting but it can also be overwhelming in knowing where to start.

This full-day workshop is aimed at counsellors and psychotherapists who are contemplating or already in the process of setting up in private practice. It is also for more newly qualified counsellors who may be thinking of private practice in the future.

The day will equip you with a step by step plan of what you need to put in place before you start seeing clients. It is a practical workshop which includes a lot of tips on how to make the process manageable. It’s delivered in an engaging way with lots of opportunity for questions so you can make it work for you. It also offers you an opportunity to meet other therapists who are in the same situation.

The workshop will give you a full understanding of all the steps you need to take, and areas you need to consider. It includes information and guidance on:

  • Where to start
  • Is private practice for you
  • How much experience you need
  • Where to work
  • What insurance policies you need
  • Membership of professional bodies
  • Financial matters – what to charge, taking payments, tax, and bookkeeping

  • Websites – how to set one up and how to write content
