Recovering from narcissistic abuse with horses
Equine Enlightenment are pleased to announce the following workshop dates for these equine assisted healing days to be held in Hogshaw (MK18):
- Saturday 22nd June 10am-4pm
- Saturday 3rd August 10am-4pm
- Saturday 7th September 10am-4pm
These workshops are solely dedicated to making sense of and recovering from the complex trauma and PTSD related to being in an abusive relationship (emotional, physical, sexual). These relationships could be with romantic partners, parents, family members, or anyone at all. The groups will be no larger than eight, and run by two experienced practitioners.
Participants do need to be 18 years or older, and we are limiting this years' workshops to female attendees only. Due to being on the receiving end of this type of abuse, it is likely that you may be feeling shame just reading about the workshop. Please do not let this prevent you from coming. Everybody will be in the same boat and have fears. There is no judgement and you will be in a safe space.
Being on the receiving end of this type of relationship can do significant damage to our emotional and physical well-being, causing parts of our self-identity to become lost and broken. This can lead to daily functioning becoming limited.
Common experiences people report during and after being in this type of relationship are:
- hyper-arousal (continued heightened state of being on edge/ constantly anxious)
- panic attacks
- severe low mood and suicidal ideation/attempts
- struggling to control emotions
- difficulty in relationships
- fear of rejection and abandonment
- self-medicating through alcohol or drugs, including prescription drugs
- body pain, migraines, problems with digestion, IBS
- auto-immune diseases, e.g. chronic fatigue, M.E.
This day aims to offer a space for exploration and processing, along with techniques to guide and support you in everyday life, wherever you are at in your journey to recovery. The day will be facilitated by an experienced psychologist and counsellor bringing in evidence-based therapeutic knowledge and interventions within a safe space to explore your journey. Most importantly, the day will be supported and led by our amazing, sensitive, healing herd of horses within nature.
The investment for this day per person is £125.
Light Refreshments (drinks and snacks) will be available, but a packed lunch will need to be brought with you to enjoy on the day.
