Psychology talks: exploring wisdoms from stories and films - Red Riding Hood
This talk will be exploring the stories of Red Riding Hood.
"Lively, fresh, thought-provoking discussion learning and exploring ideas in a relaxed atmosphere, with an inspiring speaker."
We'd love you to join us for two-hour evening talks hosted by Greg Mackenzie - NHS and Private Psychotherapist with 15 years experience. These talks for anyone interested in deepening their appreciation of films and stories, interested in psychology and interested in exploring why people do what they do interpersonally. We recommend watching the film or refreshening your memory of the story discussed beforehand, so that our time is focused on the conversation.
These discussions are brought to you by MW Conversations Psychology Service. We intend to bring to life useful psychological ideas through understanding and exploring films and stories together (and having a bit of fun as we do!). We also offer mindful eating courses, sexual well-being talks and other psychologically-informed talks. To stay updated, email us on email@example.com to be added to our mailing list and/ or 'follow' us at Mackenzie White Conversations.
In 2018 we talked about a series of fantastic films through the lens of two psychological theories: compassion-based theory and mentalisation. We are starting 2019 exploring classic fairytales through the lens of psychodynamic thinking and symbolism. No prior knowledge or experience of psychology needed - our job is to make psychology make sense and useful to all. Closer to the time we will announce which fairytales will be the focus on which evening - we are spoilt for choice and so still deciding!
Why do we act in ways which just do not seem to make sense, and have the potential to sabotage what we most want? Why do we rupture relationships? How do we repair relationships? How do people move forward from challenging circumstances? These are among the questions we've explored so far. Storytelling has such a rich history of communicating wisdoms - we are excited to share new and old ideas through conversations.
It costs just £2.70 to join us; we intend to make high-quality psychology more accessible, and so just ask you to buy tickets ahead of time for the cost of a cappuccino. Free parking outside.
These two hour talks are hosted by Greg Mackenzie; Greg currently works part-time as a Senior Practitioner in an NHS Talking Therapies service and part-time as an independent Psychologist for 'MW Conversations'.
