Porn addiction workshop
Clients aren't always aware that their porn use might be problematic. They may well bring the symptoms of porn addiction into counselling e.g. depression, anxiety, lack of motivation and difficulties in relationships (including erectile dysfunction).
This experiential workshop is aimed at trainee and qualified counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists who wish to increase their awareness of porn addiction in order to offer a more effective therapeutic service to clients.
Focuses
The workshop will focus on:
- Can porn be addictive?
- Brain changes in porn users
- When/how clients might present
- Ethical considerations
- Focus of therapy
- Opportunity, attachments and trauma
- The cycle of addiction
- Breaking the cycle and rewiring the brain
- Support and relapse prevention
- The partner's experience
The aim is to help therapists to feel more confident in understanding and exploring this issue.
