Person-centred approach to working with anxiety

Anxiety is regularly the most searched for term by people who are looking for a counsellor/therapist, and a very common presenting issue in the counselling room. Very often, clients present with a diagnosis of anxiety and want to be rid of unpleasant feelings and experiences that are symptomatic of anxiety. This training will explore anxiety from a person-centred perspective.
Learning outcomes
This training will help participants:
- Explore what we mean by anxiety and when this becomes problematic.
- Gain an understanding of how we might understand anxiety in the context of person-centred theory.
- Reflect on medical and social models of mental health and their influence on therapeutic approaches, and what person-centred practice can offer people who experience anxiety.
- Consider the use of strategies and techniques for coping and their place in a person-centred approach.
