'On a knife edge'
An understanding of gang culture and crime in London and how psychotherapists might be able to help.
During this one day course I will draw upon my experience as a psychotherapist in working with people who have been involved in gang crime and gang related violence. I will mainly focus on gang crime and culture within London, as a number of years ago I conducted some research in this area.
During the day I hope to cover the following areas:
- What is a gang?
- A history of gang crime in London
- Why people might join a gang
- Female gangs
- Trauma and Gangs
- What might help people leave a gang
- How might we as Psychotherapists help people who are involved or have been involved in gangs.
I am a UKCP registered Psychotherapist. I have experience gained over a number of years in working with people in addiction treatment settings as well as specialist NHS personality disorder treatment services. I have worked with a number of people within such services who have been involved in their past in gang crime and culture.
