Can we melt malignant immobility? Notes on depression and obsessive disorder.
Obsessional controlling mechanisms aim at totally possessing the object, imprisoning and virtually making them immobile, whether it is a person, a concrete object or a thought. The aim of psychodynamic psychotherapy is to allow the capacity for a non-catastrophic acceptance of loss to unfold, and together with it, the re-humanization of the object and fuller recognition of otherness.
