Mindfulness for health, stress or emotional well-being - MBSR/MBCT eight-week training programme.

Come along to this training course starting in October 2018 and be introduced to the simplicity and serenity of what mindfulness can offer you in your busy life.

This course, on Wednesday evenings (7pm to 9.30pm) will be a mixture of experiential and theoretical mindfulness, drawing on core mindfulness theory and practice.

Training will include breathwork, sitting meditations, body scans, mindful movement, body work and teachings about the theory and practice of mindfulness. There will be plenty of opportunities to apply the teachings and experiential meditations to your everyday life between training sessions and to encourage you to set up a daily mindfulness practice of your own.

This course is open to both beginners and to people who have already meditated in other settings. In mindfulness, all of us are regarded as 'beginners' - including the teacher...

This training will draw on the mindfulness teachings of American Jon Kabat-Zinn and British Professor Mark Williams who have developed mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) alongside mindfulness concepts drawn from other areas of mindfulness.

Mindfulness-based practices are becoming increasingly accepted by medical and other caring professions, as an important way to help people manage their lives better with choice and purpose, particularly if experiencing conditions like stress, anxiety, depression, pain or illness. However, mindful techniques are also helpful for everyone to live in a more balanced and purposeful way.

On this training course, you will be encouraged to do regular practice between sessions with the opportunity to have supportive email contact with Aileen, your trainer, and other participants between sessions.

You will also receive handouts and copies of meditations as part of the training to understand the principles of mindfulness and to enhance your developing practice in mindfulness by practising different mindful meditations at home.

You will learn within a supportive group environment with experienced meditator, trainer and psychotherapist Aileen Ross who is listed as a mindfulness teacher with the UK Network for Mindfulness-Based Teacher Training Organisations. She teaches within their guidance for good practice in mindfulness.

Aileen has been training in mindfulness since 2009 with several organisations and is currently finishing her masters degree in mindfulness at Bangor University. Her first experience of mindfulness was as a participant in 2005 to manage pain after back surgery and she's been involved in mindfulness ever since, recognising the many ways mindfulness enhances her own emotional and physical well-being.

The cost of this course is £250 with a certificate of attendance given at the end of the training (with requirements for the number of sessions attended).
