Meditation and awareness of self group
This is a small group (5-9 people), meeting in Chisbury every Saturday afternoon. We practice meditation and being present with ourselves through breath based and guided meditation. It is a chance to relax and reflect after a busy week and explore parts of ourselves that get forgotten during the hectic daily round, including our spiritual side. The group promotes mindfulness and self-insight through meditation, discussion and work with imagery.
The format of each meeting is similar. There is a brief opening meditation, based on practicing breath awareness. Once everyone is comfortable, the main meditation will be guided, for approximately 30-40 minutes. There will be time afterwards to ground ourselves and reflect on the meditation, which we may do by discussion, drawing or writing. While we encourage participation, no one has to share! We’ll have a tea break before the end, and then do a little work with card images. There will be open space at the end and a chance to borrow a book or two. As people may choose to share personal information, we ask everyone attending to treat what happens in the group as confidential.
While this is a group that may explore spirituality, we’re not pushing that or any belief system. The meditation does not following any specific school of meditation (such as vipassana). We practice meditation that helps us calm the mind and focus. We also use it to facilitate self-exploration. The guided mediation uses visualisation to open us to ourselves and put us in touch with our inner wisdom.
It’s a pay as you go group, with no obligation to sign up for a specific number of sessions, so come along and see how you find it. We hope the group will have a regular membership and so get to know each other, making the group safe and supportive.
Every Saturday from 2pm – 3:30pm. £15 per session.
