Level A interpersonal psychotherapy training for post qualified therapists
Forthcoming 5 day intensive IPT level A training
IPT Level A Training Course with Dr Elizabeth Robinson
Psychotherapist IPT IAPT trainer/supervisor.
Dates - Monday 24th to Friday 28th September 2018 @ Reed Hall Exeter University
This course meets the IPTuk criteria for accreditation and is open to both IAPT and NON- IAPT therapists.
Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) is one of the recognised NICE therapies for depression and as such is one of the range of therapies offered to people within IAPT and Non IAPT services, and or as private practitioners. To date there is little IPT currently available within the Southwest and our aim is to promote IPT and increase the choice patients/clients have in accessing NICE recommended Psychological Treatments for Depression.
This open to all therapists regardless of whether you work in the NHS or not.
What is IPT?
IPT is a time limited therapy, which focuses on the treatment of depressive symptoms through the resolution of current interpersonal difficulties. IPT establishes a collaborative focus with the client to address issues of interpersonal loss, change, dispute or isolation, identified as central to the current episode of depression. The therapist works with the client to recognise and communicate about his/her interpersonal difficulties to achieve resolution in the here and now. IPT supports the use and development of effective resources in the client’s interpersonal network.
Who can provide IPT?
IPT practitioners are people who have already had extensive experience of working in mental health, who have at least two years previous experience of delivering psychological therapy and or individual therapy working in the NHS or outside the NHS. IPT training is available to practitioners of all disciplines.
What training is on offer?
Five day didactic training running 24th to 28th September 2018 and a separate one day follow up (paid for separately).
