Let's get this conversation started: 'Good Will Hunting'
'Good Will Hunting' is frequently used in Psychology trainings. This film has an exemplary script. The script benefitted from some great writers who collaborated with psychoanalysts.
I will be reviewing the film through the lens of mentallisation and compassion theory. These two psychological constructs have a wealth of information as to how and why people interact in certain ways.
Narratives and storytelling are a wonderful way to bring to life wisdom and understanding.
Storytelling allows a felt sense of the material. Research informs us that as we open particular emotional centres in our mind, once activated, these centres can also activate our wisdom and curiosity.
This talk is for those interested in movies, for people with an interest in psychology and anyone wanting to explore the incredible variety of interpersonal interactions.
It is recommended you watch the film prior. The talk will show clips and a prior understating of the film will be useful.
I will be bringing a few tasty treats and some wine. Please RSVP using the eventbrite link.
