Introduction to existential therapy
For: Qualified / trainee counsellors
CPD: four hours (certificate issued)
Existential counselling draws ideas from the philosophy that shares the same name (funnily enough!). It offers a framework for understanding human motivation, growth, and the inevitable sense of 'stuckness' and anxiety that we all experience as human beings.
Less a structured, prescriptive model, the approach instead draws from several fundamental philosophical beliefs to form a lens through which we can, to the best of our ability, make sense of our existence.
This brief introduction will also look at how the ideas can be applied in practice and what they might mean in terms of your work and the theoretical lens that you lean towards.
