Introduction to art therapy - day workshop
The introduction to art therapy day workshop offers an overview of art therapy history, practice and possibilities.
This workshop is ideal for:
- Therapists and counsellors (in practice or in training) wishing to develop a more creative approach and thinking to their own practice.
- Any professional wanting to know more about art therapy.
- Anyone considering art therapy as a potential future career.
This workshop is divided into two parts:
The first half of the day is an introduction to the theory and practice of art therapy as a profession. We will be reflecting on its history, some basic underpinning theoretical concepts, different modalities, client groups and settings. The focus will be not only on the role of art, symbolic play and the creative process, but also on the role of the therapist and the therapeutic relationship.
For the second part of the workshop, participants (in a small group) are invited to experience the therapeutic potential of the creative process. No previous artistic experience is needed. There will be plenty of art materials and support to explore these within a therapeutic mindset.
In this workshop you will meet like-minded people who will support you and encourage you on your professional and personal development. Feedback from other workshop groups have been great: ‘Loved every minute of it!’
