Internal family systems (IFS) introductory day
188 Woodside Lane
Internal Family Systems, or IFS, is rapidly spreading around the world. It's being spoken about by some of the world’s leading lights in the trauma, psychiatric, spiritual, and neuroscience fields.
IFS embraces the mind, body, and spirit connection. It draws on systems theory and embraces the concept of multiplicity, that we all have parts or sub-personalities within us of different ages with unique views, experiences, perceptions, and personalities. IFS uses mindfulness and our brain's ability to focus to assist individuals to go to their inner child/parts/sub-personalities in a specific state of mind.
IFS believes that all humans have innate wisdom and self-energy, i.e. compassion, curiosity, connection, and calm (and other qualities) and that this energy and focus can be taken to our inner world, enabling parts of us that carry trauma, memories of emotional and physical abuse, negative beliefs, destructive behaviours, body sensations, and legacy burdens passed down to us by our ancestors and so on to be witnessed, validated, understood, and then to be assisted to unburden the pain that they have been carrying and transform.
This day will give you an overview of the IFS model developed by Richard Schwartz and opportunities to explore your own system and get to know some of your own parts. There will either be a DVD of Richard Schwartz working, or a live demo. This workshop is suitable for all those wanting to find out more about this model for professional or personal application. Please go to the IFSUK website for booking information and how to secure your place.
