This course is aimed at anyone and everyone who keeps sensitive data about their clients, whether electronically or on paper.

At the end of the course you will understand what you need to do and why you need to do it.

If you decide to make the wise step of keeping your files electronically (or if you already have), you will learn how to encrypt and keep that data safe, so that even if you left it on the bus nobody could access it.

Course topics

Part one:

  • History of data protection
  • Why we need to do it
  • How big the problem is
  • What DPA/GDPR covers
  • The principles of data protection
  • Your responsibilities
  • Data subjects’ rights
  • What happens if there’s a complaint
  • What to put in your data protection policy documents.

Part two:

  • Ditch the paper: How to encrypt your client documents easily, safely and for free.

This is detailed, step-by-step and includes full written instructions so you can do it yourself later

About the trainer - Tina Weston Before I was a counsellor, I worked in IT for over 30 years (and I still do sometimes, you never really escape from IT). I am an experienced and patient trainer, I don't assume you know anything technical and will give real-world examples that you can relate to and take on board.
