Emotional resilience programme
The resilience programme has proven to be a popular and successful way in which individuals can gain counselling and coaching in a group setting. It can be used to enhance your one to one counselling sessions, or on its own, to focus on this particular aspect of improving your resilience.
Being ‘resilient’ means that we are able to ‘bounce back’ from life’s challenges and traumas more quickly and effectively. The ability to ‘bounce’ is often dependent upon the set of emotional and physical resources that we have available to us at the time.
Some of us may not have had the time and space to build suitable resources and develop resilience before an event hits us. Others may have previously been very resilient, but have been left feeling overwhelmed by a build-up of stress. If so, we may need help to recover and build, or re-build, the necessary resources.
Working from the human givens based approach to counselling and coaching, the programme will provide you with the knowledge and support needed to fulfil unmet needs in positive and healthy ways. The human givens is a simple and structured model, using the organising principles of ‘emotional needs’ and ‘emotional resources’.
We begin by gaining clarity and focus on the issues, starting with a straightforward and effective audit of your current emotional needs. The model we use helps us first to identify the factors that may be causing a sense of ‘not being good enough’. We can then use this information to build our resources and work towards the place of resourcefulness and, hence, resilience.
We work in a solution focused way encouraging individuals to clarify current challenges and to envisage next steps in terms of planning and taking action towards resolving challenges and building resilience.
Who is it for?
The programme is especially beneficial for people who:
- Are feeling ‘stuck’ and in need of activating some positive change, motivation and self-empowerment.
- Wish to learn more about overcoming trauma and how to learn new, healthy patterns.
- Wish to return to meaningful occupation following some time away from employment.
- Wish to start their own business, pursuing their passions.
- Wish to find more connection with others, and become involved in a supportive and resilient peer community.
This programme is embedded in the principles of peer support whereby each participant gives and receives attention and mutual support. The group enables you to identify, engage and make use of your own resources, in order to get your needs met. Within the safe space of the peer supported counselling group you can practice or rehearse new patterns and contemplate new ways of thinking.
Following the programme, you will attend a monthly, structured peer support group in order to maintain new habits and receive regular support.
This programme has six sessions and will be run fortnightly from 10am until 12noon approx.
The sessions dates are as follows:

Saturday 22nd October
Saturday 5th November
Saturday 19th November
Saturday 3rd December
Saturday 17th December
The programme cost is £40 per session or £200 if payment is made in full at the beginning.
