Down the rabbit hole

A place where both the client and/or the therapist might get lost.  Also, where we can find the gold (self-esteem, courage, vision and confidence).

Presented by Stefan Charidge aka The Metaphor Man.

A rabbit hole/burrow has many twists and turns with several entrances, dead ends and exits and our profession’s purpose is to support people in knowing every twist and turn of their hidden, denied or suppressed process. To gain greater awareness of the self and support individuals in speaking the unspoken or unspeakable, expressing the unexpressed or inexpressible. Working towards individuals becoming authentic and self-actualising beings.

During the workshop, you will learn new ways how to explore and support your client, no matter which choice or turn they may take, no matter what the client brings (remembering that everything is equally important).

The webinar offers different ways to explore unexplored territories and develop the client's ability to own their history and unknown/unmet needs. We will explore how to notice when either the client or yourself, as therapist, become stuck or lost and how to support the client in making contact (where change takes place), with their authentic selves. We will also look at how being ‘down in the rabbit hole’ may affect the therapist and/or the client and, therefore, the therapeutic relationship.

Within supervision, some counsellors say - "I felt lost”, “I was not sure what to offer next”, “I was not sure where to go with what was shared”… All of which is like being in a dark tunnel of the rabbit hole. Which sometimes results in heading for the nearest exit (a safer place). In theoretical terms, the counsellor could well be picking up on their client’s process (parallel process), which is informative to the work. Within this webinar, you will see and learn how to fuss and mirror back for the answers to present themselves.

This will be an experiential workshop, with an opportunity to explore your own or clients experience and limiting beliefs (introjects).

This will not be recorded. CPD certs supplied upon request.
