Diploma in relationship-based supervision in 2020.

Are you ready to take the next step in your career - training to be a clinical supervisor?  Now in its 19th year, this course is suitable for experienced therapists who feel ready to formalise their supervision skills and gain qualification. The course is designed to offer participants from differing backgrounds the experience of supervising within their own approach and also the challenge of supervising those from a different approach. The course is experiential in nature but with clear reference to theory.

The course has been designed to provide a set of assignments which run parallel to the BACP requirements for senior accreditation as a supervisor. These include a case study, research presentation, a philosophy essay, and group supervision essay, and will include an assessment of skills and a supervisor’s report. There are at least two individual tutorials during the length of the course and several opportunities to give and receive constructive feedback. We keep the participant attendance small to ensure a focused approach to the individual’s learning.

Modules

Modules include;

  • beginnings and contracting
  • models and responsibilities
  • ethics and professionalism
  • power vs potency
  • the relationship
  • attachment

  • group supervision
  • diversity
  • difference and minority
  • challenging in supervision
  • endings and evaluations

Testimonial

"I loved every minute of this course. It was practical, relevant, and superbly designed and delivered. I could feel my confidence growing week on week, despite having supervised for some time. I was surprised at how many new skills I learned. I found the teaching inspiring and the group dynamic encouraging and empowering. Highly recommended!" - TW psychotherapist and supervisor in private practice

Costs

The total cost of the course will be £1950. There is an early-bird discount of £50 if you book 6 weeks before the start of your course.

Your place will be secured with a non-refundable deposit of £300.00 and you may choose to pay the remainder in full at the start of the course, or pay equal installments by monthly standing order. Full details upon enrolment.  N.B. Once the course has started the full fee is payable regardless of attendance.

BACs and direct debits are accepted (details on request), and cheques should be crossed and made payable to 'Therapy South'.

Entry requirements

In addition to the non-refundable deposit, you will be required to either submit a short outline detailing why supervision is important and why you feel ready to undertake this professional responsibility, or you will be asked to undertake a telephone interview with one of the course tutors.

There is also an expectation that you will be able to undertake supervision practice with two supervisees external to the course; this is important for your practice hours and will form the basis of your case study. This practice will be supervised externally to the course and a note confirming that arrangement will be required once you commence that supervision.

Accreditation

This course is designed to provide participants with substantial practice hours and appropriate written assignments mirroring the requirements of the senior accreditation application process within the BACP.
