Dance of psyche and soma – 2 day CPD workshop for psychotherapists
Dance of psyche and soma - working with the body in psychotherapy. An experiential CPD workshop.
This two day CPD workshop is for psychotherapists, counsellors and trainees who wish to work with their clients in a more embodied way, and who want to gain skills in working with the body within the framework of talking psychotherapy.
We now know that working with the body is essential in the healing of trauma, yet in other areas of our work we sometimes tend to neglect the innate wisdom of the body.
We will learn tools for working with and transforming difficult sensations and emotions that clients ‘hold’ in their bodies, such as anxiety, anger and fear. We will work with the mind-body connection and explore body’s natural resources and self-healing tendencies. We will also explore how to work with the client’s personal boundaries using an embodied approach.
Throughout the workshop, we will draw on different techniques from the practices of body psychotherapy, dance and movement psychotherapy, somatic experiencing, somatic trauma therapy, Four Elements DMTM, and mindfulness meditation, to enhance the repertoire of interventions that you can apply in your psychotherapeutic work.
In this workshop you will also have the opportunity to explore your own relationship with your body – finding your inner dance between psyche and soma.
