Culture, identity and trauma in the consulting room
City Coast Centre
Brighton & Hove
In this one-day workshop, our two trainers will consider what happens when trauma intersects culture and identity in the therapy room. There will be opportunities to explore different experiences of cross-cultural work and how we can best work with people who have experienced trauma that is culturally located. The morning session will consist of two presentations with questions and answers, and the afternoon session will be more experiential with small group discussion and facilitation.
In the morning, we will have two presentations from our guest trainers, Dr Zack Eleftheriadou and David Morgan.
In the afternoon, the speakers will facilitate small group discussion to explore the key themes of the morning (such as ‘home’, nostalgia, loss, culture, trauma etc...) raised in the morning presentations.
