Speaker Jessica Eaton, lecturer, researcher, writer and founder and owner of VictimFocus. Jessica will provide space for critical discussion, debate and reflection on the theories, practice and research in child sexual exploitation (CSE), victim blaming of children and trauma informed practice.
This course is open to any professionals working with children or adults who may have been abused in childhood. Any volunteers or interested members of the public.
This course will provide space for critical discussion, debate and reflection on the theories, practice and research in child sexual exploitation, victim blaming of children and trauma informed practice.
- To explore language and the importance of linguistics in CSE, including the way our words change the way people perceive victims of CSE.
- To discuss the stereotypes, myths and victim blaming of children who are sexually exploited.
- To explore the current research using critical appraisal, to challenge practice and thinking about CSE perpetrators, victims and practice.
- To move towards anti-victim blaming, pro-trauma informed practice and support of children and families.
