This course is approved and regulated by Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (CPCAB).

Choose from a 15-week or 30-week course to help you gain qualifications in counselling skills.

Level 2 fees:

  • Level 2 - £93.75 per month for 8 months. £249.00 deposit.
  • Total cost £999.00

Entry requirements:

No previous training or experience is required to undertake this qualification, but candidates must be able to cope with the course content, which involves written essays, peer assessments and group work. Interviewing is essential for CPCAB training courses.

Cohort C (30 Weeks):

  • Start: Wednesday, 10th September 2025
  • End: Wednesday 13th May 2026
  • Timing: 6 pm to 9.30 pm

Cohort D (15 Weeks):

  • Start: Tuesday, 25th November 2025
  • End: Tuesday 24th March 2026
  • Timing: 9.30 am to 5 pm

Course overview

This certificate in counselling skills programme is a part-time course where you’ll learn a variety of listening and responding skills which will enhance your interaction with others. This course is highly interactive, combining formal teaching with individual, small group and whole-group activities. This qualification could lead to employment or increase employability for those whose role is to support others in e.g. health and social care work, teaching and learning, advocacy and mediation, support and project work, and other helping roles. CPCAB training courses are highly recognised across the profession.

They are the UK's leading counselling awarding organisation, with over 200 training centres and 400 locations throughout the UK and overseas. 16,000 candidates are registered for their technical and vocational qualifications each year. They've been in business since 1993 and are regulated by Ofqual, CCEA and Qualifications Wales.

This qualification is for:

  • Those starting the first level of training as a professional counsellor.
  • Those who want to learn counselling skills in other professions or helping roles.
  • Those who want to improve their professional and personal relationships as part of personal development.

Guided learning hours: 90 hours (minimum)

Credit value: 17

Total qualification time: 170 hours

Minimum age: 18 years

Progression opportunities: Successful candidates will be able to progress onto INNATE's Level 3 certificate in counselling studies. This is the first step to becoming a qualified counsellor.
