An introduction to counselling skills, this course teaches techniques and skills for improving relational abilities. These include demonstrating empathy, active listening, open questioning, and self-reflection. The course is held on Tuesday evenings over five weeks and is designed to be interactive and participatory rather than taught. Students will be tested through a ten-minute role-play of a client/counsellor scenario and will need to demonstrate an understanding of, and competency in, a number of skills explored throughout the course.

This is a fun and engaging course, designed to help improve our ability to communicate and understand communication from others. It is suitable for those looking to enter a career in counselling (though this is not a counselling qualification) and wanting to start training at the beginning, or for those who want to use the skills to enhance their work or life relationships.
