Counselling & psychotherapy with queer clients: Deeper connection
Counselling and psychotherapy with queer clients - Facilitating deeper connection
Historically, people who grow up LGBTQ+ can at times be pushed a narrative that paints their queer future in a somewhat negative light. This can have the self-fulfilling impact of leading down a path of disconnect.
This workshop has been specifically designed to help therapists and mental health professionals support their clients in gaining a deeper connection to themselves, the therapy and people around them.
Whats included?
- discussing and adapting the queer narrative
- discussing queer tragedy vs joy
- exploration of what literature can teach us
- exploration of Tom's ‘self-fulfilling cycle’
- discussions on the importance of: Acceptance, friendships, community
This workshop lasts two hours via zoom and will include interactive group work, breakout rooms and a short comfort break.
Who is this workshop for?
This workshop is ideal for therapists and mental health professionals (both in training and qualified), looking to learn about new ways they might work with LGBTQ+ clients, facilitating a deeper connection. Those who attend this workshop will need to already have an understanding of LGBTQIA+ communities. You will also ideally understand the mental health difficulties those in queer communities face and why.
