Discover the ABC-D of BSS, where abandonment, bereavement, and captivity intersect, leaving lasting psychological scars on individuals.

Learning objectives:

  • Consideration of specialist ways of working with ex-boarders in the clinical setting.
  • Awareness of particular sensitivities of boarding school syndrome.
  • To draw attention to the subtle forms of abuse that take place in boarding schools.  (Challenging the mantra ‘it never did me any harm’).

New material will consider:

  • Working with parents who sent their children to boarding school.
  • Working with sibling relationships affected by the associated ruptured attachments.
  • To consider ways in which there may be some form of resolution.
