Overview

The actor and the therapist focus on what happens between people in the immediacy of their encounter. Attention to what is truthfully expressed, revealed and co-created “in the moment”, when the script and the theory have been put aside, is what makes the performance and the session come to life.

This experiential workshop will offer participants an opportunity to discover and practise techniques used by actors to access, observe and respond to affect in others and themselves. It will give therapists a new take on how to enhance their ability to engage and be present in the here and now of the consulting room. Exercises will also raise awareness of the natural tendency to make assumptions about meaning rather than respond to the interaction and the truth of the moment.

The training will be  jointly run by Perrine Moran, an experienced psychotherapist and Scott Williams, the founder and director of the Impulse Company which has offered training to actors since 1996.
