An introduction to working with trauma
This course will provide counsellors/trainee counsellors with an understanding of how to work with clients affected by personal threatening events and enable them to learn how to recalibrate their reality, integrating such events into their consciousness in ways that will help them find meaning and re-establish a sense of safety, wholeness, and connection with life.
The weekend will;
- define ASD and PTSD
- explore trauma assessment tools
- explain the neurobiology of trauma
- describe the psychotherapeutic interventions for working with traumatised clients with a focus on CBT
Both tutors are experienced counselling lecturers and have current experience of working with clients presenting with personal traumatic experiences.
Refreshments are provided with a sandwich lunch on both days.
A CPD certificate will be presented to each delegate on completion of the training.
