NCPS quality checked online counselling supervision post-qualification course (L6 equivalent)

Aims:

Provide qualified and experienced therapists with the knowledge, skills and confidence to work as supervisors in person and remotely and join the NCPS-accredited register of Supervisors if they wish to.

Structure of the course:

This 6-month course comprises:

  • 10 days/modules (9.30 am-4 pm) Thursdays online synchronous (Zoom classes)
  • A tutorial is offered to assist, support and guide you through the course assignments.

Learning methods: lecture/slides, demonstrations, interactive learning with class and small group discussions, triad skills practice, peer and tutor feedback on practice, case examples (fictional or composite anonymised), Zoom polls.

Additional time involved: It is anticipated that some prep, 30-60 minutes, will be required ahead of each module. This would be for example: preparing something for small group discussions/reading /choosing and preparing an anonymised case scenario to share/preparing a brief presentation.

30 hrs to produce 3 assignments (average of approximately 10hr per assignment)

Materials included:

Slides from each module, Practice Guides, handouts, video recordings of the lecture component of each module to keep, audios of supervision demonstrations with learning notes.

Attendance:

Delegates must attend a minimum of 8 /10 modules.

Small groups for enhanced learning experience. Cohort size limited to max 12 (1 lead tutor, 1 additional tutor may be required for skills practice/presentations at MOD 10).

Module content is in line with BACP recommended core supervision competencies framework (Sept 2021) and covers key supervision skills required for the profession. Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) is weaved throughout the course in addition to a specific module. This course includes training in mainstream supervision models as well as “remote” working models. This means supervisees will be well placed to deliver Supervision in person as well as remotely (online phone).

Fees:

£1775 pp. £175 deposit to secure your place, followed by 4x £400 monthly payments thereafter. (Fee can be paid on credit/debit card or bank transfer) Deposit is non-refundable; thereafter, refund sliding scale/or deferral options are available for unforeseen extenuating circumstances).

Additional expenses:

Supervision with your chosen supervisor and purchase of two key recommended textbooks. Accommodation (if required) for the professional development weekend is not included but can be arranged separately with the hotel (lunch and refreshments will be provided during each day).

Eligibility:

Is for those practitioners who are already qualified at L4 or above, have completed 450+ client hours, and 3 years of practice, are having regular supervision, are members of a professional membership organisation (e. BACP, NCPS).

  • Final Portfolio Submissions Deadline: end Feb 2026
