A day of self-care
This is an opportunity to devote a day to looking after you.
Following Andy Gray's training on vicarious trauma last year, which highlighted the importance of self-care, a number of people noted they'd like a chance to further explore ways to incorporate this into their busy lives.
For all who support others, it's vital for our own well-being, and that of those whom we support, to look after ourselves and develop ways to regularly have down time and recharge.
This day will allow you to take part in practices aimed at relaxation and restoration including Tai Chi, mindfulness and self-compassion. There will also be the chance to share and explore ideas for self-care that you can put into practice on a regular basis at home.
Rachael Tonge is a CBT counsellor with a strong interest in compassion focused therapy and mindfulness. In addition to her counselling work, she has over 15 years experience supporting carers, running regular workshops and courses on stress management, mindfulness and self-care.
