About this live online CPD

As it is Black History month, Eugene Ellis will be exploring the histories and contributions of important black therapists and psychologists who have practised in the UK through the years.

The live online event will be both a celebration of black therapists and an opportunity to learn about some of the important concepts that specifically support black mental health. There will be opportunities to ask questions, make contributions and give reflections.

The term ‘Black’ is a political and sociological term, identifying people who have been most vulnerable to the oppression of White racism owing to differences in skin colour.

About the speaker

Eugene Ellis is the Director and founder of the Black African and Asian Therapy Network (BAATN). He is a trained integrative arts psychotherapist who has worked for many years with severely traumatised children and their families in the field of adoption and fostering.

He has a private practice in London, offering psychotherapy to individuals, as well as adoption support, supervision and training. He has several publications including: ‘Finding Our Voice across the Black/White Divide’ in Intercultural Therapy: Challenges, Insights and Developments, edited by Baffour Abadio and Roland Littlewood (Jan 2019). He has been very active in facilitating a conversation around the Black and Asian experience in the therapeutic process with the general therapy community through articles, podcasts and audiobooks as well as supporting the Black and Asian therapy community to grow and develop.

We will donate all proceeds from this event into our Hardship Fund, which supports our students who are experiencing financial difficulties.

CPD Certificates will be provided.
