8 week mindfulness for life course
Moments of Mindfulness teach the clinically proven eight-week mindfulness courses in Exeter. The facilitators have been trained in both MBSR (mindfulness-based stress reduction) and MBCT (mindfulness-based cognitive therapy). The course will include elements of each as appropriate for the group. The course will help you to systematically develop the skills of mindful acceptance. You will learn new ways to handle challenging thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations. It will enable you to be more fully present and engaged with the good things in your life.
As your mindfulness develops, you will become aware of your critical mind and will be able to approach it with more compassion and kindness, allowing you to let go of judgments and self-doubt. As a result, you can reclaim your balance and a calmer life.
Who is the course for?
Anyone wishing to enhance their general physical and mental well-being. In addition, if you are experiencing stress, anxiety, low mood or feeling generally dissatisfied with your life, this course will teach you how to respond better to everyday situations.
The programme is not being offered as a treatment for any specific physical or psychological conditions. It is not suitable for people who are currently experiencing severe problems. To make sure this course is suitable for you at this time, you will be asked as part of the registration process, some information about your general well-being and state of mind.
What will I learn?
You will learn to deal more skillfully with the stresses and strains of daily living. Practising the skill of deliberately paying attention to what happens in mind and body will enable you to become more familiar with the workings of your own mind patterns and habits. It will help you to identify habits that may no longer be helpful to you. You learn to spot your own early warning signs before stress or low mood become too overwhelming. This allows you to make plans for how best to respond, rather than react in our old familiar, and often unhelpful ways.
