8 week mindfulness based stress reduction course
Eight week course starting 20th September 2018.
This is the gold standard course for learning to practice mindfulness. In use for 30+ years this course is proven to help people cope with life, stress, anxiety, chronic pain and many other issues. At the end of eight weeks, participants (in research studies) show measurable positive changes in the brain and in their ability to cope with life and it's ups and downs.
Over eight weeks of two hourly sessions (same time every Thursday with half term break on 25th October) and regular practice at home we will cover:
- Introducing mindfulness.
- Handling stress.
- The power of being present.
- Patterns of reactivity to stress.
- Responding not reacting.
- Stressful communications and interpersonal mindfulness.
- Looking after yourself with mindfulness.
- Keeping your mindfulness alive.
Each class includes practices, teaching, experiential exercises and thoughtful enquiry into your experience. There are also gentle physical exercises some weeks. You will be asked to complete a brief questionnaire before the course to ensure it is suitable for you, but generally most people can benefit. 18+ only.
