Ziva Weaver Psychotherapist Reg: CABP / UKCP / EMDR
01803 840384 / 07704 463790
I am a UKCP Registered Integrative Psychotherapist, EMDR and DDP practitioner based in Devon. I work with Adults, Children & Young People in private practice in Totnes and Exeter treating PTSD, developmental trauma, single event trauma, anxiety & depression and relationship difficulties.
I also provide therapeutic support service to local authorities Fostering and Adoption services as well as CAMHS teams. Support for parents and their children is based on the DDP model Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy. I offer supervision to allied practitioners.
I am known for my warmth, directness and thoughtful down to earth style. I combine analytic and playful aspects of working.
We all have emotional needs and the innate resources to meet these needs whether we are an adult, child, parent or carer.
You may be feeling anxious, lost, disconnected, depressed, low in confidence, angry, sad or suffering with stress.
You might be dealing with changes in your life, such as relationship endings or bereavement, or the impact of abuse, job loss, injuries or simply wanting to make sense of personal history, to mention just a few of the possibilities.
Experiencing these feelings or events, you may have constructed negative belief systems and developed ineffective coping strategies to help you to manage your daily life.
My approach is to compassionately listen, to invite co-thinking and reflection offering the support you need to make sense of your thoughts, feelings and experience.
How I can help
DDP - Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy
DDP is an effective therapy for deepening the emotional connection in your relationships. This approach draws on the attachment based work of therapist Dan Hughes emphasising P.A.C.E attitudes of Playfulness; Acceptance; Curiosity and Empathy.
EMDR Trauma Therapy
EMDR - Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing- a treatment specifically developed to reduce anxiety and fear related to developmental trauma and PTSD. It is proven to be very effective in processing trauma lodged in our minds, by reducing the emotional intensity of responses to daily triggers connected to specific traumatic memories either developmental/emotional or more specific and acute. It helps rebuild confidence by neurologically ‘re-installing’ positive beliefs. My focus with this treatment is creating a safe environment to support you in developing constructive coping mechanisms for the future.
Psychotherapy with Children & Young People
This therapy provides your child with a safe place to explore difficult thoughts and feelings. I seek to foster a warm and trusting relationship within which children and adolescents can help to communicate through talking and or play. I also help parents develop skills that prevent problems from escalating.
Adult Integrative Therapy
Whether you come here as a result of a crisis or a sense of curiosity about yourself, this is an opportunity to explore long held beliefs and attitudes that may not fit you anymore. I can support you to explore your inner self, understand things in a new way, and make more satisfying choices about your life.
