About me

Face to face/ online one to one therapy sessions for adult individuals & age 12 upwards. EMDR for single distressing events available.

Supporting people is my passion; I provide professional, warm and personalised counselling/therapy on a one to one basis from my comfortable office.

Are you feeling disconnected from your (happiest) Self and others? Counselling and therapy can help you to cope with destabilising emotions, heal from past pain and traumas (including developmental trauma) and move beyond, to a happier experience of life.

I work 'integratively' which means I blend together the theories of person centred, psychodynamic and cognitive therapy as well as my additional training in somatic trauma therapy. I am able to offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) Psychotherapy for single event trauma and distressing memories.

You'll receive a non-judgemental, empathic and steady presence while we explore your past experiences, thoughts and feelings as well as patterns in relating and behaviours. Therapy is about having someone who is in your corner, there for you to emotionally support you through the highs and lows of your life and to help process stuck emotions and memories. This helps free you to think, feel and behave in the ways that you choose to, rather than (re)acting from past conditioning.

I also offer Reiki healing as a stand alone or in integrated into the therapy session if the client wishes to support the work/healing.

I have a wealth of experience helping a wide range of people;

  • Mild/moderate mental health concerns
  • Developmental/family trauma
  • Self esteem/confidence
  • Trauma therapy/symptoms of PTSD/complex PTSD
  • Somatic informed therapy
  • Depression/anxiety/grief & bereavement
  • Divorce/separation
  • Finding meaning in life
  • Young people aged 12 upwards
  • Adults with addictions + friends/family counselling (N.B I currently only see those in recovery)
  • Recovering from toxic relationships or narcissistic abuse
  • Older people
  • Carers
  • Homelessness and vulnerable young people aged 16-24
  • Learning disabilities including autism and Aspergers
  • Abuse
  • Spirituality & mindfulness/non-duality
  • Phobias
  • Coping with challenging illness

As well as providing a warm, non-judgemental approach, I aim to help you to develop self insight and I place particular value upon the quality of our therapeutic relationship and the 'transference' that may arise.

What to expect

Many people might find talking to a stranger about themselves worrying- this is perfectly natural and quite common. Our first meeting will involve finding out what has brought you to seek therapy and what you would like to achieve from the process. It also gives you the opportunity to ascertain whether I would be a suitable therapist for you; someone with whom you can feel safe to share your issues of concern with.

The therapeutic relationship is crucial to successful counselling and therapy, the quality of which will deepen and develop over time. I provide longer term and shorter term counselling/therapy, during which we will review our time together and see what has worked well and what might be more deeply looked at.

Please email, text or call me to arrange your first step to a happier life.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
