About me

Hi there :-)

"Do not look up at the whole stair case, just take the first step"!

Already you have done this by looking at the directory and clicking onto my page!

Are you looking for a person who you can talk to about your worries, thoughts, emotions, whilst also feeling safe in a calm and confidential setting? This could be your moment, a simple phone call and we can start to expolore these together

Each session will provide you with the opportunity to talk about what has led you to seek counselling. I will help you to explore your thoughts and feelings in safety, with the assurance that your privacy is being protected at all times.

Before we go any further, I would like to introduce myself and the services that I offer. I believe it is important to build a bridge of trust between both client and counsellor. The first step to this is my previous experience and professional background.

My name is Zahera, and I am a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor. I am fully trained, registered, and insured. I have over 11 years of working with people, from children to teenagers through to adults.  Along with this I am a qualified Level 4 Youth and Community Worker.

I have many years’ experience working young adults who have additional needs and been a facilitator for group therapy and offering 1-1 counselling. I have many years of experience working with young people with behaviours of concern.

My therapeutic approach to counselling is integrative; meaning that I draw from different theories and select which I feel is the most useful and relevant to suit personal needs and to meet your preferred way of working. After all, everyone is different.

Each session is driven and lead by you. The topic of discussion is entirely down to the individual, helping you to explore your thoughts and feelings in a comfortable environment, I will go whenever you go in your session and walk along side you.

My aim as your counsellor is to guide you through this process without judgement or telling you what to do. I may on occasions if it may benefit you, will give you information, offer suggestions or recommend some exercises worksheets, always with the deepest respect for your autonomy and your right to be self-determining. The objectives are always determined by you and what you want to achieve.

Clients can come with issues to counselling with often can cause distress and great pain with a sense of feeling ‘stuck’ which can cause anxiety and low mood. With working together, we can explore and find alternative ways ease distress and this sense of feeling ‘stuck’.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority.
