About me

Hi there, and thank you for visiting my profile.

Are you looking for a person who you can talk to about your worries, thoughts, emotions in a calming safe confidential environment, this could be the moment.

The aim of counselling is to provide you, with the opportunity to talk about what has led you to seek counselling. I will help you to explore your thoughts and feelings in safety, with assurance of your privacy is being protected at all times.

Before we go any further, I would like to introduce myself and the services that I offer. By doing this I hope it may help your decision about us working together.

My name is Zahera, and I am a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor. I am fully trained, registered, and insured. I have over 11 years of working with people, from children to teenagers through to adults.  Along with this I am a qualified Level 4 Youth and Community Worker.

I have many years’ experience working young adults who have additional needs and been a facilitator for group therapy and offering 1-1 counselling. I have many years of experience working with young people with behaviours of concern.

My therapeutic approach to counselling is Integrative, meaning that I draw from different theories and select which I feel is the most useful and relevant to suit ’s personal needs and to meet their preferred way of working.

I will always go where you want to go in counselling and discuss what you want to bring to counselling meaning all sessions are led by you.

My aim as your counsellor is to guide you through this process without judgement or telling you what to do. I may on occasions if it may benefit you, will give you information, offer suggestions or recommend some exercises worksheets, always with the deepest respect for your autonomy and your right to be self-determining. The objectives are always determined by you and what you want to achieve.

Clients can come with issues to counselling with often can cause distress and great pain with a sense of feeling ‘stuck’ which can cause anxiety and low mood. With working together, we can explore and find alternative ways ease distress and this sense of feeling ‘stuck’.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
