MBACP - Person Centred Counsellor

About me

Do you find that your current circumstances have left you feeling anxious or depressed? Maybe you feel like lonely, stuck or you are experiencing an overwhelming sense of sadness?

I'm Zahava Smith and I am a fully qualified Person Centred Counsellor supporting those who find it hard to cope with bereavement, have low self-esteem, those who may feel hopeless, worthless and stuck due to a past trauma or abuse and anyone in need of the time and space to safely explore yourself on deeper levels, in a confidential and empowering environment.

For all of us there are times when life becomes too difficult. Sometimes the support of friends is enough. However, there are times when life events can become too overwhelming. At times like this, therapy can help you understand your feelings and develop a stronger sense of self.

I provide long term and short term counselling in a safe and non judgemental environment. Your session is individually tailored to you and at your own pace. I am here to support you in healing the past, live your present and create your future.

I currently divide my work between private practice and volunteering for Age UK where I have gained a lot of experience working with elderly from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

If you are struggling and need someone to talk to, please don't isolate yourself. The first step in the journey is to find the right person to talk to, so if you need to talk with someone who is trained to listen with care, empathy and without judgement, then please do not hesitate to call me on 07784 691 139 or email me for an initial appointment and a brief chat about how I might be able to help.

If I am unable to speak to you straight away, I will always return your call or email at the soonest opportunity.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
