About me
Hello, my name is Yvonne Terry. Thank you for stopping by my profile. The fact you are here suggests that you are considering therapy. For this, I applaud you. Therapy is not easy. It's an incredibly brave, life changing step towards fully knowing and understanding yourself. A chance for you to make sense of your life and begin to shed whatever is standing in your way.
I create a safe, confidential space for our work. Together our work is to build a relationship of trust where what’s troubling you can be explored and understood through honestly acknowledging your feelings, noticing your powerful emotions, and observing your behaviours and relational patterns. We then look at how you take what is discovered into your daily life.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling from the CPCAB and I am a fully Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
I have experience across a range of issues including depression, anxiety, bereavement, loneliness, abandonment, relationship issues, anger and issues related to trauma. Alongside my private practice I have volunteered at a Community Counselling Service and have spent 4 years as a listening volunteer with the Samaritans.
My speciality is people. Since doing this work it has been my honour and privilege to witness my clients courageously face their pain and emerge from it changed and empowered to create their best life.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I offer appointments online and on the telephone, for short term and open ended counselling to suit individual requirements. I work Monday's, Tuesday's and Wednesday's.
I offer an initial consultation to see if working together “feels” right which incurs a fee of £20. This gives us a chance to get to know each other and to talk about your reasons for you wanting therapy at this time.
