About me
Hello! I am a qualified and experienced counsellor and I am here to help you. I am a calm, supportive and caring person, and will take the time to listen to you. I have worked with people from all walks of life and ages; I have extensive experience of working with business owners, parents, carers, children and young people, and families of prisoners. I specialise in helping people with issues such as anxiety, stress, depression, fears, sadness and trauma (including religious trauma). I am also a qualified teacher with experience of working with young people and adults with SEN, particularly ASD. I am deaf aware and working towards BSL L3.
We can all experience pressures from work, family and daily life at times and this can lead us to feeling overwhelmed and anxious. I am here to listen to you and help you find a solution that is realistic for you. I am passionate about counselling and I respect each person as an individual. I love helping people find solutions that work for them. I have worked with people as young as 7 all the way up to 88!
As well as counselling, I am a qualified hypnotherapist registered with the GHSC and can offer a range of hypnotherapy solutions (including hypnobirthing) if you feel this is something you would benefit from.
I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHSC). I am also an approved counsellor with the Secular Therapy Project.
What do I do now?
If you want to book a free initial phone consultation you can contact me by email or telephone. During the initial session we will talk about counselling and you can decide if it is right for you. There is no obligation to continue. If you want to book a second session we can set that up and discuss if you want weekly/fortnightly.
I will respond to all enquiries within 48 hours. If you have not heard from me within that time, please check your junk/spam email.
Where do sessions take place?
I have a therapy room in Shaw, Oldham which has free parking facilities and is close to public transport links.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
