About me

Hi,  my name is Yvonne and I’m a fully qualified BACP-registered counsellor based in Aberystwyth.

Seeking therapy is a courageous step, and finding the right counsellor can sometimes feel overwhelming. I truly believe that the connection between therapist and client is at the heart of effective therapy, so I hope the information below helps you get a sense of whether I might be the right fit for you.

I work in an integrative way, which means I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches to suit your unique needs. No two people are the same, and I believe your therapy should reflect that. Whether you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just unsure where to turn next, I'm here to help you explore things at your own pace in a calm, non-judgemental, and confidential space.

I support people through a wide range of life experiences, including anxiety, trauma, low self-esteem and confidence, depression, eating disorders, domestic or sexual violence, relationship and work difficulties, menopause, stress, intrusive thoughts and the lasting effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). Whatever you're facing, you're welcome here and you don't have to go through it alone.

I’m also trained in specialist trauma-informed counselling, which recognises how trauma can affect every part of a person’s life — emotionally, physically, and psychologically. This way of working centres safety, trust, and empowerment, allowing you to move forward gently, at your own pace.

I believe counselling is more than just talking — it’s about understanding yourself more deeply and making sense of your experiences. I often use gentle psychoeducation to help clients learn how the brain and body respond to things like anxiety, trauma, and stress. This can be incredibly empowering, helping you recognise patterns, make connections, and begin to shift what no longer serves you. Together, we explore not only how you're feeling, but why — and what can help you move forward.

A bit about me
I came to counselling after navigating my own mental health struggles and trauma. With the support of someone who truly listened, I discovered that healing was possible — not just recovery, but real personal growth and freedom. That journey led me to become a counsellor myself, and it’s now my privilege to support others in finding their own strength and hope.

If any of this resonates with you, please don’t hesitate to get in touch by message or book in a free 15 minute introductionary call. I’d be happy to talk more about how I can support you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
