About me

Hi my name is Yvonne and I am a fully qualified and registered BACP counsellor.

As each person is unique, so will be the way we work together. I am an integrative counsellor which means I bring together elements of different therapeutic approaches to make sure your therapy is tailored to you.

I offer a safe, confidential, non-judgemental space so you can explore and understand any emotional difficulties or concerns.

I work with a range of issues such as (but not restricted to) anxiety, trauma, low self-esteem/confidence, depression, eating disorders, sexual violence/domestic violence, ACE's, work/relationship difficulties and so much more.

I also provide specialist trauma informed therapy which takes into consideration the complex impact of trauma on an individual and how it affects a person’s ability to cope. It can make all the difference to a person's mental health and well-being. Trauma therapy prioritises emotional and physical safety and allows us to move forward at a pace you feel comfortable with. If you would like to know more please get in touch.

A Bit about me

I chose to qualify as a counsellor after experiencing mental health issues and trauma which had led to emotional and psychological difficulties. Somebody came into my life at the right time and helped me on the road to recovery.  It was through this recovery I discovered that not only was healing possible but the journey itself was one of strength and empowerment. What I learned along the way enabled me to free myself from the trauma and take back control of my life.  This experience has inspired me to want to help others and I hope by sharing my story it will embolden others to reach out and seek help whether it be from myself or from someone else.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
