About me

As an experienced Psychotherapist & Counsellor working in the City (EC4) and Kings Langley (WD4). I work with warmth and compassion, fully accepting and being present to your unique situation, reflecting the sensitive nature of our work together.

I realise beginning therapy can feel like a daunting experience, but when the days feel a struggle to get through, you may wish you could talk to someone who has empathy and compassion, whilst being able to offer you a source of ongoing support which enables you to gain the strength and resources required to cope with life.

Maybe you're going through a personal, professional or relational crisis? Struggling with what feels like stress, depression or anxiety related disorders, have erratic low mood swings and panic attacks.

Perhaps you're experiencing difficulty with relationships and intimacy, worried about a dependency on unhelpful coping mechanisms to get through the day?

Finding someone you feel able to talk to and are able to share your thoughts and feelings with, can bring immense relief; offering you a pathway towards being able to lead a more contented life.

With this in mind, I offer a confidential, safe and professional space where you can take the time you need to share, explore and reflect on the emotional, mental and behavioural problems which you may be finding troubling or difficult to work through.

My work is primarily relational and psychodynamic and is based on an understanding that our past experiences and unconscious thought processes impact on our present day thoughts, feelings and ways of relating to others in everyday life.

I also work using EMDR (eye movement de-sensitisation and reprocessing) if appropriate to your symptoms and usually in conjunction with long term therapy although short treatment sessions are available.

EMDR works on a multiple levels and is highly effective in treating a number of troubling issues ranging from traumatic events and memories to anxiety, depression and other mental health related issues.

Whatever your fears and difficulties may be , I work on the understanding that living a more contented life begins when you allow yourself the space and time to reveal inner processes which are out of your current awareness and yet seem to exert tremendous control over your life.

With this in mind, I draw on my therapeutic creativity and other modality influences to inform our work together, enabling a collaborative experience to evolve which is both creative and relational.

I am able to offer you the benefit of my extensive experience in providing open-ended and time limited short-term psychotherapy and counselling to a diverse client base presenting with a wide range of troubling issues.

Many varied issues are brought to therapy and include areas around:

- Anxiety / General Anxiety Related Disorders
- Depression
- Relationships
- Intimacy
- Sexuality and Identity
- Family conflict
- Panic attacks
- Trauma related difficulties
- Self destructive behaviour
- Self harming, Eating disorders
- Body image
-  Stress
- Anger
- Self esteem
- Grief and Loss
- Feelings of isolation and loneliness.

My work has included adult therapy and working in a Primary and Secondary school setting both in the UK and in South Africa with individuals, adult groups and also in school settings.

The British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) is a professional association, representing the profession of psychoanalytic psychotherapy.

The organisation is itself made up of fourteen member organisations and BPC accredits the trainings of its member organisations. An individual who qualifies from one of these trainings is then eligible for entry into the BPC's register.

BPC registrants are governed by a code of ethics, a policy of continuing professional development, a statement on confidentiality and a complaints procedure. The BPC is a Member Society of the European Federation for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in the Public Sector (EFPP). Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

UK Council for Psychotherapy

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Further information

I work with clients for open-ended, time limited and pre-scheduled ad-hoc sessions depending on the orientation of the work from psychotherapy, EMDR,  coaching to therapeutic coaching or in house corporate sessions.

How long we will work together will depend on what you are looking to gain from our sessions and what feels right for both of us

Following a short telephone consultation, I offer an initial intake session which begins the process of exploring your present situation and discussing your needs in a relaxed environment.

During this time we can take a closer look in more detail at what you are looking for form our time together. It will give you an opportunity to meet me in person, ask questions and see if working with me feels right for you at this time.

Please note that at this time I have no concession spaces for therapy available. Please enquire about being placed on a waiting list.
