Yvonne Barr BSc Hons, PgDip, MBACP
I am a BACP registered psychodynamic counsellor practising at two locations in Cambridge city. I work with adults and young people for short or long term therapy.
I work with issues connected with relationships, work, anxiety, depression, loss or bereavement, life changes or personal identity that you may want to talk about. If you would like to increase an understanding of yourself and gain some clarity in how you deal with situations then you may find therapy helpful. Exploring the patterns that get repeated in your life without realisation helps you increase insight and free up blocked feelings. Emotional upset can manifest in many ways causing a variety of symptoms or can lead a person to feel stuck or confused.
I provide a confidential, non-judgemental space - offering the opportunity to explore these different experiences with you and the possibility for change.
I also have experience working as a counsellor for charities in Cambridgeshire.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a fully qualified, BACP registered psychodynamic counsellor. I have experience of working with adults and young people in private practice and for two charities operating in Cambridgeshire.
My counselling training was with the University of Hertfordshire where I achieved a University Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling followed by a Post graduate Diploma.
I have considerable experience of working in the voluntary sector. I have a Diploma in Nutrition.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
