Welcome, I am Marie, a fully qualified Child, Young person and Adult Counsellor.
I am based in Shenfield and Brentwood.
I will offer you, as my client, a safe, non-judgemental, and confidential space. Listening, offering empathy and understanding, is proven as the most effective form of help. Giving you the opportunity to improve your wellbeing.
Person-centred therapy believes that given the right conditions, we all have the capacity for growth and change. I will create a relationship where you feel understood, safe and accepted. By experiencing these conditions you can explore your emotions, make sense of your thoughts and experiences, enabling you to heal, develop, and feel empowered.
We may, at some time, experience difficulties in our lives. Leaving us feeling overwhelmed. Talking to me can give you the space to explore issues freely.
I work with creative and play materials, as well as offering talking therapy. Creative therapy may help you find a way of expressing yourself above words. Art therapy, sand play and writing are all approaches that may be used depending on the needs of the client.
Play may be a helpful way to express feelings and deal with emotional issues. It is useful in enabling childen work through their anxieties and experiences. It is also a helpful way to work with adults.
As a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy I work in accordance to their Ethical framework for the Counselling Professions.

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
