About me
For over ten years, I’ve dedicated myself to working as a counsellor, CBT therapist, and EMDR practitioner, helping individuals overcome emotional challenges and rebuild their lives. My journey through mental health care has taken me across a variety of settings, from working with young people and adults in schools and private practice to collaborating with multi-agency teams. Throughout, I’ve been deeply committed to trauma-informed, evidence-based therapy, focusing on treating depression, anxiety, PTSD, and complex trauma. At the core of my practice is the belief in creating a safe, supportive space where clients can explore their emotions without judgment and feel empowered to heal.
Training, qualifications & experience
My career shift started in 2009 when I decided to move away from hospitality, seeking a more meaningful path. Volunteering as a telephone counsellor for Childline was a transformative experience. It gave me a firsthand look into the emotional struggles people face, especially children, and solidified my passion for mental health care. By 2012, I transitioned into offering time-limited, 1-to-1 counselling for adults. This role allowed me to sharpen essential skills like risk assessment, caseload management, and developing treatment plans centred around each client’s unique needs. I also became proficient in using outcome measures like PHQ9 and GAD7 to monitor progress in clients dealing with anxiety and depression.
In 2014, I began working with children aged 11-17, providing 1-to-1 counselling in school settings. This experience deepened my understanding of the unique emotional and mental health challenges young people face, particularly in environments where academic and social pressures can significantly impact well-being. I worked closely with student support teams and safeguarding officers, learning to identify risks early on and offering meaningful, therapeutic support tailored to each adolescent's needs. This was a turning point for me and sparked my ongoing interest in supporting young people through their mental health journeys.
My work as a CBT therapist expanded further when I began collaborating with CAMHS, offering CBT to children and young people with anxiety and depression. These were often complex cases that involved multi-agency coordination with schools, social services, and healthcare providers. By 2018, I stepped into the role of Senior Therapist at a mental health charity, where I managed a team of therapists, trainees, and volunteers. In addition to providing clinical supervision and managing referrals, I took the lead in developing strategies to reduce waiting times and created psycho-education workshops to help young people understand and manage their mental health better.
Since 2017, I’ve been running a successful private practice, where I offer tailored therapy sessions for individuals facing issues like anxiety, depression, and trauma. By combining CBT and EMDR, I offer a personalised approach to each client’s needs, working closely with major insurance companies like AXA and Bupa to ensure high-quality care. I’m also involved in the IAPT system, where I deliver short-term CBT interventions for individuals aged 16 and above. Balancing the flexibility of private practice with the structured demands of IAPT has given me valuable insights into how different therapeutic models work for diverse client needs. This dual experience continues to shape and enrich my approach to helping others on their mental health journeys.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The BABCP is the lead organisation for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in the UK. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the practice, theory or development of CBT. BABCP also provides accreditation for CBT therapists. BABCP accredited members adhere to the Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics in the Practice of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies, and are willing to be scrutinised in this adherence as required.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Philosophy and Therapeutic Approach
At the heart of my practice is a deep belief in the potential for personal growth and healing. This philosophy underpins every therapeutic interaction, whether with a child struggling with anxiety, a young person battling depression, or an adult reprocessing childhood trauma through EMDR.
I employ a person-centred approach, always striving to create an environment of safety and trust. The therapeutic relationship is seen as a collaborative partnership, where the client plays an active role in their healing journey. Empathy, active listening, and non-judgmental support are cornerstones of my therapeutic style, ensuring that clients feel heard and validated.
Evidence-based practice forms the backbone of my approach. With extensive training in CBT and EMDR, I consistently draw on well-researched, effective techniques to support client progress. This commitment to evidence-based care is further reflected in my regular use of psychometric tools and outcome measures to track client progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
However, my approach is not rigidly confined to specific modalities. In practice, I remain adaptable, tailoring interventions to meet the unique needs of each client. For some, brief, solution-focused therapy may be most effective; for others, long-term therapy that delves deeply into past experiences and emotional patterns may be required. In all cases, I remain responsive to the individual, ensuring that therapy is always aligned with the client’s goals and emotional readiness.
