About me

Sometimes we all need a little help, searching for a counsellor you can work with is a great step in helping yourself.

I have been trained in the Integrative approach which means I can offer you a variety of ways of working to fit in with your needs, this goes hand in hand with my belief that each of us are individuals and there is not one approach that will work for everyone in every situation. Using aspects from Psychodynamics, Existentialism and the Person Centred approaches we can work together to overcome obstacles in your life whether they be issues from the past, the present or in the foreseeable future.

My work is open to all ages and walks of life. Whatever may be bothering you from anxiety and depression to relationship issues and family issues, if you have witnessed or experienced abuse or even if you are just feeling sad I have a great deal of experience working with people in these areas.

Although it is most helpful to deal with issues while you are young to minimise the effect they have on adult life there is no reason to deprive yourself of an opportunity to work through any issues you have at any stage of your life, we all deserve to be happy and sometimes for that we need a little help.

If my words have connected with you at all and you wish to know more please feel free to visit my website or get in contact, do not feel you are obligated to have a session with someone just because you have contacted them, feeling comfortable with your counsellor is key to a good working relationship.

I have a dedicated private office located at Enterprise House in Wrest Park, Silsoe (Silsoe is a village situated just off of the A6 between Luton and Bedford and is easily accessible from Clophill, Ampthill, Flitwick and the surrounding villages). There is a large car park and the facility for disabled parking. The counselling room contains comfortable seating and a range of supplies for therapies involving drawing and talking. There is also a waiting room and toilet facilities available at the premises if you wish to bring someone with you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I began my career path into becoming a counsellor by working in a school and focusing on the pastoral care of its pupils, over time I have worked with a great deal of different issues a lot of which are more severe than you would expect the youth of today to have to experience. Because I have spent over a decade in that setting I am very accomplished in working with children and young people to help them through difficult times and helping them with emotional, social and behavioural issues. That job led me onto my counselling training and later to become a volunteer at a local counselling service for children and young adults which has given me broader experience in working with a more varied age group.

My qualifications are the Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling awarded by CPCAB and by extension of that both the Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills and Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies. I have passed my certificate of proficiency with BACP to become a Registered Member of BACP. During my work in school I picked up several other useful bits of training such as Foundation Drawing and Talking Therapy, Youth Mental Health First Aid, Protective Behaviours, Prevent training and extensive safeguarding training to name a few.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
