Catherine Ogier MNCS (Snr Accred) - West Coast Counselling
Sometimes what is happening in our life, or has happened in the past, brings with it a significance and impact that is not always easy to understand alone. I would like to help you in trying to make sense of what is happening, or has happened.
I am a trained Integrative Humanistic Counsellor and I am committed to working with you in a safe, confidential non-judgemental environment. It is my belief that the 'therapeutic relationship' is key to progress within therapy and as we work together I will strive to offer you the best conditions to grow and reach your full potential. In addition to counselling, I practice a solution focused behavioural therapy called BrainWorking Recursive Therapy®.
I can work with you on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period, with the aim of enabling you to enhance your life and to live it more fully.
I offer a free 30 minute meeting for us to discuss what is happening in your life. This will also give you an opportunity to decide whether you wish to engage in a counselling relationship with me.

I have significant experience over several years working with individuals who have suffered bereavement and loss. Loss can occur in many areas of our life, such as redundancy, loss of status, sudden illness, or any changes in our lives which affect us.
In 2013 I worked for '"Relate2U', a young person's counselling service available through 'Relate'. I worked in our local Grammar sixth form and the College of Further Education with young adults offering a general counselling service.
I currently work as College Counsellor at The Ladies' College, Guernsey as well as managing my Private Practice.
I am experienced in working with clients who have presented with issues such as anxiety, GAD, phobias, depression, distress, anger, trauma and relationship issues.
I am also an Advanced Certified Practitioner in BrainWorking Recursive Therapy® (BWRT) - more details of this exciting and revolutionary solution-focused way of working can be found below.

What's so special about BWRT®
BWRT is a psychological therapy developed in 2011 by UK therapist trainer Terence Watts and has enjoyed a speedy rise in popularity in the UK and worldwide, thanks to the success it has enjoyed from the start and its rapid resolution of problems. So profoundly successful is it that it's now employed as the main therapy in a South African mental health clinic, dealing with, among other things, the aftermath of violent trauma.
It's based on the latest discoveries in neuro-science about how the brain receives and stores information.
You don't need to tell the practitioner anything you don't want to talk about - no need to share your secrets.
As long as you know how you would prefer to feel instead of how you feel already, the practitioner can help you.
Most problems are resolved very quickly, often in a single session and even complicated problems like alcoholism can be resolved in 4 -5 sessions.
It's able to deal effectively with a wide range of issues, from simple anxiety or phobias all the way up to problems lke eating disorders, alcoholism, drug abuse, gambling, pornography addiction and more.
All BWRT Therapists have to undergo a full assessment of their skills.
It's logical and doesn't use trance states, tapping, touching, stroking, gazing, 'energy paths' meridians or anything.
