About me

Hello, I provide counselling for people suffering from anxiety, depression, stress, health issues, isolation and distress.  Additionally, I also specialise in grief counselling for people who experience difficulties in coping with bereavement, particularly those grieving after pregnancy loss.

Sometimes friends/family/work colleagues can listen but don't hear, they look but don't see.  We can often feel unheard and invisible.  We can all experience times when we feel low in mood, stressed, sad, or generally overwhelmed and these are normal reactions to life occurrences   However, sometimes these feelings and emotions persist and cause disruption to our ability to function with day to day living and impact on our wellbeing. It is at times like these that we certainly need to be seen and heard but we may not know where to turn for help.  I understand that the idea of discussing your innermost thoughts and feelings in counselling can be a frightening prospect, however, I do offer a warm, safe, confidential environment.

What does Counselling with me look like?

I provide a compassionate presence, listening and validating your story and emotions, giving you time and space to explore your feelings.  I like to work with you agreeing a way forward together, working at your pace, being supported by me.   I can support you if you simply need to talk or gain more clarity on your issues, have a different perspective, maybe want a sense of calm, feel more confident, or have a sense of direction, purpose and meaning.

I have a relaxed approach and my clients say that I am warm, understanding and offer calm presence.

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
