About me

Please Note:   I only have fortnightly sessions available at the current time.   All enquiries by email via the Counselling Directory contact form.

Hello and welcome to my page.  Please have a good read of the information here as it is important that you are comfortable and are able to trust the counsellor that you choose to work with.

The most powerful thing anyone can ever do is to say, "I can't do this anymore, I need help" and to reach out for that support.

Sometimes friends/family/work colleagues can listen but don't hear, they look but don't see.  We can often feel unheard and invisible.  We, perhaps, also don't want to worry or upset family/friends by confiding in them or equally we may feel judged by others.  We can all experience times when we feel low in mood, stressed, sad, or generally overwhelmed and these are normal reactions to life occurrences   However, sometimes these feelings and emotions persist and cause disruption to our ability to function with day to day living and impact on our wellbeing. We can become exhausted putting on that "smiling" facade for people every day.  It is at times like these that we certainly need to be seen and heard but we may not know where to turn for help.   The idea of counselling can be a frightening prospect, however, I do offer a warm, safe, non-judgemental and confidential environment.

I provide face to face, online, or eco-therapy.   If you would like to arrange a free telephone assessment, please contact me by email.   A telephone assessment is mandatory before engaging in counselling with me.

I support people suffering from fear, anxiety and overwhelming worry, depression, stress, trauma,  feeling not good enough, feeling stuck with no purpose or meaning, imposter syndrome, perfectionism, generally sad, confused, low mood that can't be shaken off, health issues, low self-esteem, low confidence, life loss such as redundancy, relationship issues, menopause related issues and emotional distress and pain.

My specialist area is grief counselling for people who experience difficulties in coping with bereavement, particularly those grieving after pregnancy loss, complicated grief or those who are disenfranchised in their grief.

What does Counselling with me look like?

I provide a compassionate presence, listening and validating your story and emotions, giving you time and space to explore your feelings.  You also don't need to wear that facade that you have to put on for others.  Being able to speak to someone who is unbiased can of itself be a relief and also not having to be afraid of upsetting them, or worse being judged.  There are no judgements in my therapy room.   I like to work with you agreeing a way forward together, working at your pace, being supported by me.   I can support you if you simply need to talk or gain more clarity on your issues, process difficult emotions, have a different perspective, make sense of what is happening, find solutions, maybe want a sense of calm, feel more confident, set goals, or have a sense of direction, purpose and meaning.

I have a relaxed approach and my clients say that I am warm, understanding and offer a calm presence.

Please see my qualifications listed below.  I also engage in regular Continuing Professional Development, attend various national Bereavement Groups, and facilitate a national network for women's wellbeing.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
