About me

Are you overwhelmed with life issues and need some support?

Do you feel anxious and would like to learn how to feel calm?

Do you feel unheard and unseen and would like to be acknowledged and validated?

Would you like to work with someone who can offer a safe, confidential non-judgemental space who can listen to you empathically?

If you are answering YES to any of these questions and would like to consider counselling with me then please reach out for a FREE 30 minute telephone/video assessment (mandatory prior to engaging in counselling with me) via WhatsApp.

My practice is based on my extensive counselling experience, evidence based counselling practices and current research.  I am an Integrative Counsellor which means I can use different models of counselling to support your needs.  I am based in the beautiful Health & Wellbeing Centre at Millfield Court in Eccleston, St Helens.  Adjacent to Eccleston Woods, Taylor Park and Eccleston Mere.

My counselling experience includes supporting people with issues of overwhelm, stress (I am a certified Stress Management coach), anxiety, perfectionism, imposter syndrome, trauma, abuse, life losses, lack of meaning and purpose, social anxiety and health diagnosis in particular Cancer, working with the newly diagnosed as well as those receiving palliative care to end of life.

I have helped individuals overcome low self-esteem, low self-worth, lack of confidence, loss of sense of self/identity.

I specialise in supporting those suffering grief due to bereavement and I have enabled people to regain balance, meaning,  restorative calm, so that they can regain a sense of independence to continue living their life.

I am an Accredited Pregnancy & Infant Loss Practitioner supporting those experiencing grief due to pregnancy loss (stillbirth, miscarriage, missed miscarriage, molar pregnancy, failed fertility treatment, ectopic, unknown location, miscarried multiple, absorbed multiple, medical/surgical termination, termination) and infant loss (including SIDS).

My specialism of working with grief includes helping those with issues when  grief has become more complicated for various reasons.

Sometimes friends/family/work colleagues can listen but don't hear, they look but don't see.   We can often feel unheard and invisible.  If we are struggling with life, our emotions and how we are feeling then it is at times like these that we certainly need to be seen and heard but we may not know where to turn for help.   I provide a compassionate presence, listening and validating your story and feelings.   I have a relaxed approach and my clients say that I am warm, understanding, and offer a calm presence with a sense of humour and a down-to-earth demeanour.

Please see my qualifications listed below.  I also engage in regular Continuing Professional Development.

As well as individual counselling I also offer:

A monthly online journaling group for women.

A private wellness circle for women.

A free women's walking for wellness group.

Other groups, workshops and awareness sessions.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
