About me

If you are not sure what to expect from counselling then I am here to help you make sense of it all. If things like self-doubt, stress or anxiety have been building up inside you, counselling can be a place for you to release that pressure, a place where I can guide you safely as you begin to unravel your problems. It is somewhere to feel completely accepted for who you are, listened to and understood, a place you can show any emotion and never be judged. I currently work with clients experiencing many issues such as anger, depression, suicidal thoughts, anxiety, relationship issues and unprocessed historical trauma.  If you would like to find out more about counselling with me, you can contact me to arrange a free phone consultation.

What I can help with:

Abuse, Anxiety, Anger, Childhood Trauma, Depression, Difficult Memories, Loss, Stress, Relationship Issues, Self-harm, Sexual Abuse, Feeling Sad.

I offer both long and short-term counselling. I offer face to face counselling in a bright and airy summerhouse in my garden and I also offer counselling sessions online, using the Zoom platform.

You can call or message me now to arrange your free 15-minute consultation and decide whether you would like to book a session.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am degree educated (Fine Art at Coventry University) and hold a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling awarded by the CPCAB. My independent counselling practice, Cherry Trees Counselling, is based in Nottingham. I have also been a volunteer counsellor at ISAS, a charity offering counselling to survivors of incest and sexual abuse since 2019. I am committed to continuing professional development and have additional training in suicide prevention, safeguarding and child protection, attachment, forced marriage and grooming awareness, adverse childhood experiences and trauma, childhood incest and sexual abuse. I am also a registered member of the BACP.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
