About me

Are you feeling overwhelmed or facing personal and professional challenges that are feeling confusing and challenging to navigate?

Are you experiencing feelings of stress, anxiety, depression, or low self-esteem? Are you feeling ever more isolated and alone? Are you navigating the breakdown of a relationship or suffering a bereavement? Have you reached a crisis point and are not sure where or who to turn to for help and support?

One to one counselling from a trained therapist can help to begin to make sense of these new and unchartered feelings and thoughts that you have never felt able to experienced before and finding difficult to express.

My name is Veronique Christie, I am a qualified and a BACP registered practitioner currently working in a hybrid capacity, online on Zoom and in-person. I offer an individual, therapeutic and confidential service that can help you navigate challenging feelings, thoughts and times. Counselling with a trusted therapist can help ease and navigate transitions in your professional and personal life.

Offering a hybrid approach allows me to extend my counselling service further and enables me to see clients from all backgrounds and cultures, younger and older adults either, locally in person, or nationwide and further afield.

These are some of the areas I work with amongst others.

  • anxiety
  • stress
  • depression
  • relationship problems
  • low self-esteem
  • Work-related issues
  • Bereavement
  • pre and postnatal pregnancy
  • IVF

My approach explores personal experiences within a safe and supportive environment. Together we can begin to explore and understand how challenging feelings or behaviours from the past or currently impact on our quality of life.  The sessions I offer start with two initial assessments. From here we can start to talk about some of the challenges and issues you face and where we can begin to navigate any trauma, transitions and changes that are proving difficult from the past to the present.

I am BACP registered and adhere to the BACP's ethical framework and guidelines. Working within this offered framework allows for clear and understanding communication

We will meet once weekly for 50 minutes. I mainly work with clients on a long term basis. The growing connection between therapist and client as our work develops and evolves allows trust and open communication.

About how Counselling can work for you.

Counselling is a way for you to begin a journey of self-exploration. It can help you to express feelings and thoughts in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment that you may have felt unable to share with others before.

Counselling can also help to identify any negative patterns of behaviour that may be impacting your relationships and day to day life. Together we can work through issues and help you gain insight and build the confidence to make changes in a confidential and safe space.

I understand that finding the right counsellor for you and making initial contact can feel daunting and confusing but building a good relationship with your chosen therapist is the first step towards alleviating symptoms and overcoming problems that feel too overwhelming to manage in isolation.

The first step in the journey is to find the right person to talk to, so if you need to talk with someone who is trained to listen with care, empathy and without judgement, then please do not hesitate to call or email me for an initial appointment. I offer a 20-minute free initial phone consultation as a first step.

Going into therapy whether for the first time or returning to sessions after a pause can feel daunting, I will endeavour to return your call, or email at the soonest opportunity to arrange a mutual time that works for all.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I also have life experience working with artists and performers who suffer from performance-related stress and anxiety. And I can help to deal with writers block, stage anxiety. Having worked in media myself I understand the pressures, tight deadlines and the stress that can come with this fast paced environment And I can help talk through how to begin alleviating symptoms of stress that are beginning to impact on your day to day. Don't feel that you have to suffer in silence. Talking through issues such as work related stress and the anxiety and depression can help you to make long term changes.

Further information

My online practice takes place via Zoom sessions. Time and day to be agreed. My face to face work is placed at Homotherapy a beautiful room based in a therapeutic centre for counselling and based in Angel Islington.

I know that finding the right counsellor can feel daunting, so please do not hesitate to call or email me for a brief chat with any concerns or inquiries you may have about the service I offer.

I also offer sessions to new mothers who are finding the change to motherhood overwhelming. We can look at and work with the changes motherhood can bring. Postnatal depression and any issues you would like help with. It can sometimes feel difficult to talk openly about feeling unable to cope. This is open to all new mothers and those with young children.

Some clients might feel that a set and agreed number of sessions and fee may work well for them. This would be looking specifically at an issue that would work in the set time agreed. In a time where work is more flexible I will offer daytime sessions that will fit in with you working from home or in a confidential space where we can address your issue openly and securely. Please do contact me for further information on any of the above that feels right for you.
