My name is Venetia Whittaker. I am a senior accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) whose Code of Ethics I abide by. I provide Counselling and Supervision services in the Beckenham area, which is close to Bromley and Croydon, within easy reach by public transport with plenty of street parking.
Counselling is an opportunity to focus and explore the issues that concern you. I offer you space and support to explore these in your own time and pace. The overall aim of counselling is to provide an opportunity for someone to work towards living in a way which is more satisfying and resourceful. I believe that our relationship is paramount in enabling you to develop an understanding of how you relate to others and the world around you so that you can facilitate taking charge of your life. I will not tell you what to do or give you advice; I am there as a springboard to draw out of you what you think is best to do and perhaps point out different ways of seeing things.
I work both short and long term with individuals and couples from a diversity of ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Although my core training was Person Centred, I work from an integrative model drawing on Psychodynamic, Humanistic and Cognitive Behavioural approaches when needed.
Please feel free to contact me by telephone or email to set up an initial session to see if we are comfortable working together. At this stage I will give you a written contract in which I explain in more detail how I work and the hours I am available.
