Una Kyne BACP Senior Accredited Counsellor (Adults)
Hello, welcome to my profile. I am a very experienced counsellor and I have worked for the last 14 years as a counsellor in York working in the GP surgeries. I am now in private practice. My approach is non-judgemental and empathic.
I offer a safe and confidential space in which we can discuss and explore the distress caused by the difficulties that you are currently experiencing or by the problems you are facing in life. Whatever issues you are struggling with, it is my aim to help you find a way to gain insight and to manage your life with a renewed sense of energy and optimism.
Some people need to use the counselling space to work through difficult and painful events and feelings, others might favour a more problem-solving approach to say a current work issue that is causing anxiety/depression or some might like to look at the past in order to make sense of the impact it has on the present. I work with grief issues and have trained as a bereavement counsellor.
I have successfully helped clients through a wide range of issues, including: low self-esteem (often the cause of depression and/or anxiety); impact of bereavement/grief (human or pet); relationship difficulties, divorce/separation, work stress, bullying/harassment; impact of negative childhood issues including abuse, punishment, criticism, rejection, neglect etc/
grief/loss, panic/anxiety and post traumatic stress disorder(PTSD)- recent incident.
I can also provide tools and coping strategies that will assist you in the process of making positive changes if needed, using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
More about me
I was born in Newcastle Upon Tyne and moved to London age 22. I trained to become a counsellor 17 years ago. I worked in the NHS in York for 12 years as a counsellor working in the GP surgeries and in the last 4 years I was the Lead Counsellor.
I have now left the NHS and I am working as a Private Practitioner. I work with Adults and with Couples. I also work as a Supervisor.
Making an Enquiry
To arrange an initial consultation you can email, text or make a phone call (07961 512364). I have an answer phone, where you can leave a private message giving me times when you will be available for me to return your call. I offer an initial free 10 minute telephone chat.
We can then arrange a suitable time and date to meet for an initial session. This will take place at my private practice which is based in York YO24 (just off the A1237). We would then arrange an agreed number of sessions should you wish to continue with the counselling therapy.
I can offer sessions on weekdays/evenings.
